Fate Series Visual Novel Genre

So  far   in my little series of anime  we talked about  the isekai genre and anime adapted  from  games  but  this  week I'm   exploring the  fate  verse visual novel anime.  This  is an  interesting  series due to  its  branch and  story structure.  due  to  the franchise  being  so  big  I'm  only  talking about  the  main  story.  Which  is  structured  differently.

Lets  start with the main story which  will  make  sense  buth there is one  question  to  be  answer.  What is  The Holy Grail  and  its  purpose  that's where the  story begins.   In  This  series  it is a magical  cup  that can grant any  wish.   This also  holds  a  dark secret as well. Thi series is based on a war or  competition  on  who  can win it.   It  consists of seven masters or  mages and seven servants. these servants are heroes or public figures known throughout time. some  are fictional  others  are not. These servants  are  classified in seven classes based on their abilities or legends.  The  classes are   saber, archer, rider, berserker, lancer,  caster and assassin.  The  interesting thing is that some of these servants are  gender swapped which gives them the ability to  have  character development  with unique backstories.  The  main point  is  that  these masters and servants  battle  it  out till a  winner is  chosen.  The  story  has interesting plots along the way.

The  interesting  thing  is  that the second part is  routed.  This  means  its  goot  three  different routes  which  tell the same story with  different  endings  for  each  one.  This  covers  different  events  that happened in the  same  story.  When  they  were adapted they  were split  into  different  genres.  The  first  and original  is  called  Fate which lands in the  romance department.  The  second  one Unlimited  Blade Work is  a bit more action pact.  The  final  route is the  darkest  and  more mature which one  might classify it in the thriller genre.  The interesting thing about  this one is  that i  was  adapted as a trilogy in anime  cutting  the story in three Different films instead of the 25 episode season.  With  three  different  endings  it  is  challenging to  tell.

The series has sprouted a bunch of spin offs  but  that  can  be saved  for  another time.  This  genre is phenomenal and  great  creation.  With  the  creation  by  Type  Moon  and the adaption   brought to  life by A1  pictures and Aniplex it  makes  it  well  known.   This  unique  genre can tell a story and tell it right.
