Ready and brace yourself for the monster movie of the year. This pins two of the media's popular titans Godzilla and King Kong the most influential gorilla up to date. In the past solo films these creatures were portrayed as misunderstood animals trying to live in our environment. They turn to violence due to our terror and mistreatment of them.
Now that they are brawling against each other for survival. The cool thing about this movie is at there's not one fight scene but several in multiple locations. The interesting element is that the monsters take advantage of each location to fight each other using the things around them as weapons.
The effects in the movie were magnificent during the fights. An example would be Godzilla's radioactive breath which hit Kong several times and decimated everything around them. This pushes the movie up since the fights are the main idea of the film. Another part that was great was giving character development to both creatures telling their backstory. I was surprised that Kong got the biggest development out of all showing that he has emotions and a touching origin.
Just like any other film the movie had some flaws that pushed it back a bit. The things that the movie centered more on the monsters it made the people dull and generic. They were just there to serve a purpose. Some scenes with the humans were forced in the film just to move the story along. This robbed them of their personality and value.
In the end the movie is action packed and full of popcorn violence for the viewers to enjoy. Godzilla vs Kong who will you go for the radioactive reptile or giant monkey. Pick a team sit down and enjoy the fun. Keep a lookout for this fourth instalment in the monsterverse. Godzilla VS Kong coming to HBO Max at the end of the month.
